NYFW Wrap Up.

My work week was filled with events and running around. I was cold and hungry. You’d think I was at New York Fashion Week, but instead I was stuck in Indiana helping run events for prospective students at the university for which I work. Instead of galavanting around New York, I was interviewing students in my office and checking students into residence halls for an overnight visit.

I came home every night this week exhausted from my own work day that I barely had time to check Style.com and The Cut for my daily dose of NYFW. I am now finally catching you up on everything you may have missed while I was working.

Banana Republic stepped up its game and started presenting with the big dogs of the fashion world. Unfortunately, Marissa Webb’s work seemed to stay within her comfort zone but didn’t look like J. Crew 2.0, which is what I was most worried about since Webb’s move to BR from J. Crew.

Speaking of J. Crew, Jenna Lyons and friends knocked it out of the park yet again. And not just with the clothes themselves but with the styling as well. J. Crew’s fall collection consists of bright yellows and sequins as well as a healthy amount of navy and grey. When Jenna Lyons says, “I think we were missing the sparkle a little. We’d gotten a little bit quiet. It’s not just us—fashion generally has gone a bit quiet, I think. So this season I was like: ‘Damn, give me sequins!'” you get more sequins.

J.Crew also introduced the jumpsuit pantsuit for this fall. All the pieces were gorgeous. It was hard to just pick eight looks for this post. I suppose I am a bit biased since I worked for the company and still love it very much.

In its totality, NYFW consisted of many prints and styles mimicking that of the 70s, though one show in particular did not: Rachel Zoe.

Zoe went for more of a 60s vibe.

Probably my favorite of the shows I have had the time to watch so far was Badgley Mischka. The pieces were gorgeous and the photos below do not do the collection justice.

If you have been on the lookout for Kendall Jenner this NYFW, one of the places you could have spotted her was in the Marc by Marc Jacobs show.

The show also included double-lined, winged eyes and one of the accessories that is making a comeback: the bumbag/fanny pack.

What are everyone’s thoughts about NYFW this year? Any standout shows? Any upsetting collections?
